Hangzhou November 4, 2006 turned out to be
another beautiful day and I am not kidding. Blue sky...
light breeze... clean air... We went with 22 other
expat and local friends to go on a one-day tour in
Hangzhou. We rode in a clean, air-conditioned 45 person
tour bus. The bus took off at 7 a.m. from Suzhou Conference
Center, downtown. Despite our early rise, our group
was motivated and excited to go on tour. There were
non-stop conversations and laughters with sunshine
inside and outside the tour bus. We passed around
snacks, tangerines, candies... to add to the joy,
that is, until Johnson showed us his snack, deep-fried
scorpios (see photo) and silkworms. "No, thanks,
Johnson." The entire trip was delightful, much
like a field trip in our youthful days. Cost was 88
rmb per person. Excellent price. It even included
free accidental travel insurance for all of us. Our
young tour guide did a fine job. We encouraged him
to say something to us in English. He did and we applauded
him. One day is not enough to see Hangzhou. We are
definitely going back for more sightseeings. Enjoy
the slideshow.
