Downtown in Shanghai - August 12, 2006 We left Suzhou 8 in the morning
with another couple. Arrived FuZhou
Road around 10. Spent the next two hours in the
Book Mall.
Favorite place for our husbands. We, ladies, went shopping.
It's a feast for the eyes just window shopping. Went
to the Bund and ate
lunch at Dragon
& Phoenix Restaurant at Peace Hotel, East Nanjiang
Road. We had the perfect view of the Pearl Tower from
the 8th floor. It was a misty day; nonetheless, the
view was breathtaking. The barges paraded in front of
us non-stop in the harbor. That showed us how much business
is going on in Shanghai. After lunch, we walked leisurely
down NanJiang Road.
I think the best buy comes when I am relaxed. Before
we knew it, we were ready for an ice cream coffee from
KFC. Next, we went to XinTianDi,
an area of upscale shops and restaurants. We ate at
Paulaner Brauhaus.
Well, folks, this place is a must if you love sausages
and pork knuckles. I cannot begin to tell you how good
the food was. In addition, the Philippino 3 persons
band was fantastic, singing songs of ... let's say,
our generation's. "....., downtown; ......, downtown;
....." We got home by 10, exhausted but delightful
for our time spent in Shanghai.... downtown!
