He Yuan, YangZhou,
Jiangsu Province
(April 14, 2007) We got up
early and left for YangZhou around 7:00 a.m. It was
a three hour ride to get there. There's 45 of us.
No one was taking an early morning nap. We were too
excited to explore YangZhou. When we arrived "He
Yuan," we knew we came for the right reason.
This garden is definitely different from all the previous
gardens that we visited. First of all, the owner of
this garden has the same last name as Bosco, i.e.,
"He" or "Ho" in Cantonese. He
is not related to us, but hey, it bears our lastname.
We have to be related somewhere in the past, right?
This garden is "East meets West." It has
both the traditional Chinese settings and the colonial,
foreign influence in its architecture. The buildings
are two storys high with shutter panels, spindle or
metal railings, and palm trees (remember, this is
north of Suzhou; it's cold here)... I can talk foreverk
but... enjoy the slideshows... it speaks for itself...
A BEAUTIFUL HOME FROM THE PAST! (afternoon, Shou
Xi Hu)
